And experience the special underground world during a walk through the marl corridors that were carved out in the 17th and 18th century by the diligent work of our block breakers. During the tour through the cave we really tell you everything about the rich history, the origin of marl and the Valkenburg caves, their use over the years.
Along the way you can enjoy countless statues carved out of the marl, such as a life-size statue of the Night Watch. But also beautiful sand sculptures, various informative and educational films, historical wall drawings and inscriptions.
Moreover, the tour through the cave goes at your own pace, so it is suitable for young and old. Nice for a quick experience (been there, done it) or an interesting tour where you really learn everything about marl and caves. And if you come with your family with children, you will receive a treasure hunt from us. This way everyone experiences the caves in a fun way.
We always talk about a cave, but actually in Limburg they are not caves, but quarries. We will explain that to you during your visit!

Book your ticket for the Valkenburg caves
De Valkenburgs Caves offers tickets for adults from 18 years and discounted tickets for children from 4 to 17 years. Children up to 4 years old can join for free. This is not possible with a pushchair, but you can with a light buggy.
Due to the corona measures, it is necessary to order your ticket in advance. We work with timeslots that you can enter.
And an additional advantage: online you always have the best (read: cheapest) price.
Therefore, book your ticket on time. This can easily be done online. You will then immediately receive your ticket by e-mail. You do not have to print this. The ticket has a QR code that we can scan from your phone. Handy, isn't it?
Information, location & route
Your visit to the Valkenburg caves starts with scanning your ticket at our ticket office in the Daelhemergroeve.
Then you enter the MergelRijk and start your walk at your own pace. For this, a whole route has been plotted through the quarry, where you cannot get lost. You don't need a flashlight either, because the entire corridor system is attractively lit. Very safe!
You can park in front of our door, in the parking lot of the Steenkolenmijn. That only costs € 5 for the whole day. So nice and affordable parking at the Valkenburg caves for a whole day in Valkenburg!

Register with your ticket at the reserved time at our ticket office. This is located in the Daelhemergroeve (the entrance is clearly visible from the parking lot).
